Loughborough Town Centre
Sun 14th Jun 2009
9.00am to 5.00pm
Loughborough’s fabulous annual streets arts fair has a distinctly French theme this year as Streets Alive becomes Rues Vivantes!
An all-day French Market will be catering to all your Gallic needs while a Craft Market, also running all day, will be spotlighting the work of local artists, ceramicists, glass workers, jewellers and textile artists. In addition, there will be a host of dance, singing, recycled art and woodcarving workshops for everyone to join in. Charnwood Arts`s Art Zone workshops will be just the thing for children aged 8-14 years.
The Markets open at 9.00am and at 12.00 noon the streets really come alive with a packed programme of dancing, music and comedy acts. The music will range from Ska and Jazz to African drumming and the fabulous Mighty Zulu Nation!
Dance and acrobatics are supplied by Chinese ribbon dancers as well as Irish and Indian dance groups. There will be singing from the `Devoted Gospel Choir as well as the winner and runner up of this year`s Charnwood’s Got Talent contest, Blue Horizon and Kieran Fowkes.
Among the 80 performers will be a roving balloon modeller and a puppeteer for the young ones, street theatre for all ages and a saucy French accordionist for the older ones.
Local artists will be performing alongside national and international talent in three performance areas running right up until 5.00pm. Don`t miss it!
Streets Alive! is jointly organised by Charnwood Borough Council and Charnwood Arts and is supported by the Loughborough Town Centre Partnership
